JP Smith's Eagle Project - Sept 27

We will be mapping the location of amenities (bathrooms, water fountains, tire repair, etc.) on the Constitution Trail on September 27th.  Please meet at Uptown Station at 9:00 AM that morning for coffee, donuts, and a brief debriefing.  If you have a smartphone, please bring it.  A small group of people able to bicycle to a point further down the trail would be needed. I will need lots of volunteers and family members are welcome.  

Fall Camporee - October 17-19 - Shooting Sports

Here is the preliminary information on this year's
Fall Camporee:

 
Theme - Shooting Sports
Dates - October 17 - 19
Location - Ingersoll Scout Reservation
Price - TBD

This year we will be holding a joint camporee with the
Lowaneau District at Ingersoll with the theme of shooting
sports.  The exact details are being worked out with the Council Shooting
Sports committee on what we will offer and the best way to do it but we
are intending to have all the ranges open to let Scouts (and maybe adults)
shoot along with other activities related to the various merit badges and
the overall theme of shooting sports. We are also working on having the
Jamboree On The Air available as well as adult leader training.

More information to come as it is received from the council.

Merit Badge Blue Cards 4-1-1

Merit Badge Blue Cards

Our scoutmaster's have requested that ALL scouts starting any merit badge must have the Scoutmaster's approval before they start any of the requirements! The scout will need to bring the blue card to the scoutmaster for his signature! This is done so the scoutmaster knows who the merit badge counselor will be as well as what the scout is working on! At that time, the scoutmaster can answer any questions or offer any suggestions to the scout! This process is not something that's new! Over the past few months it has been overlooked and our current Scoutmaster's feel that it needs to be done properly! 

Tents & Tarps Request Update

Troop 20,

If you didn't know, I have taken the quarter master job back from Mr. King.  I have done an inventory on tents and tarps and have found #7 tent is missing along with 8 tarps.  They have been missing for some time.  Please check your garages, basements, sheds, car trunks or anywhere else you may have misplaced a tent or tarp.  From now on the SPL of the event will e-mail me and the scout quarter master (Lucas Frey) on who took what home after an event.  That person will have one week to get the equipment back to the troop.  Extensions may be granted with permission.  We need to find the missing supplies so please look around your house and return any equipment as soon as possible.

Boards of Review - Please read

Boards of Review

The committee will hold Boards of Review for scout rank advancement the next Monday after the Scoutmaster's conference has been held. This will give the scout a chance to prepare both mentally as well as physically. Scouts having Boards of Review will need to be in full uniform in order to be considered for rank advancements. This means a scout shirt with all the current patches properly sewn in place. A neckerchief with slide or a scout bolo. A merit badge sash with all merit badges sewn in place. He needs to wear pants that compliment his scout attire! Every scout must bring his scout handbook to the review. We ask that parents please be sure that your scouts be properly uniformed for not only Boards of Reviews but all scout activities including meeting nights.
